How to Play Reversi
Objective
A 2-player strategy game on an 8×8 board. Place discs to outflank
your opponent and claim the most discs by the end.
Setup
4 discs are placed in the center in a diagonal pattern. Black moves
first.
Placing Discs
- On your turn, place a disc on an empty square that outflanks one or more opponent discs.
- Outflanking means your new disc and an existing disc of your color form a straight line (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) with opponent discs in between.
- All outflanked discs are flipped to your color. A single move can flip in multiple directions.
Passing
If you have no legal move, your turn is automatically skipped.
Game End
The game ends when neither player has a legal move
(usually when the board is full or both must pass). The player with
more discs wins. Equal counts result in a draw.
