Blackjack
Players & Equipment
- 1 player vs the dealer (house)
- 6 standard decks (312 cards), configurable
Objective
Get a hand value closer to 21 than the dealer without going over (busting).
Card Values
| Card | Value |
|---|
| 2–10 | Face value |
| J, Q, K | 10 |
| Ace | 1 or 11 |
An Ace counts as 11 unless that would cause a bust, in which case it counts as 1. A hand with an Ace counted as 11 is called a soft hand.
Gameplay
1. Betting
Place your bet before each round. Minimum bet is 5, maximum is 500.
2. Deal
You receive 2 cards face up. The dealer receives 2 cards — one face up, one face down (the hole card).
3. Blackjack
If your first two cards are an Ace and a 10-value card (10, J, Q, K), you have a Blackjack and win 3:2 (1.5× your bet), unless the dealer also has Blackjack (push).
4. Insurance
If the dealer's face-up card is an Ace, you may take insurance — a side bet of half your original bet. If the dealer has Blackjack, insurance pays 2:1. Otherwise, you lose the insurance bet.
5. Player Actions
| Action | Description |
|---|
| Hit | Draw one more card |
| Stand | Keep your current hand |
| Double Down | Double your bet, receive exactly one more card, then stand |
| Split | If you have two cards of equal value, split them into two separate hands (each with its own bet) |
| Surrender | Forfeit half your bet and end the hand (variant, first two cards only) |
6. Dealer's Turn
After all player hands are resolved, the dealer reveals their hole card and draws according to fixed rules:
- 16 or below: Must hit
- 17 or above: Must stand
- Soft 17 (variant): Dealer hits on soft 17 if enabled
7. Results
| Outcome | Payout |
|---|
| Win | 1:1 (bet returned + equal winnings) |
| Blackjack | 3:2 |
| Triple 7s | 2:1 (variant) |
| Suited 777 | 3:1 (variant) |
| Push (tie) | Bet returned |
| Lose | Bet lost |
| Surrender | Half bet returned |
Variants
| Option | Description |
|---|
| Deck Count | Number of decks in the shoe (default: 6) |
| Soft 17 | Dealer hits on soft 17 (default: off) |
| Surrender | Allow late surrender (default: off) |
| Triple Sevens | Bonus payout for three 7s: 2:1 (unsuited) or 3:1 (suited). Wins instantly regardless of dealer hand (default: off) |
Game Length
The game lasts 20 rounds. You start with 1,000 chips. The game ends when all rounds are completed or when you run out of chips. Try to finish with as many chips as possible.
Strategy Tips
- Stand on 17+: Never hit a hard 17 or above
- Always split Aces and 8s: Two hands of 11 or 8 are better than 12 or 16
- Never split 10s or 5s: 20 is a strong hand; 10 is better to double
- Double on 11: You have the best chance of hitting 21
- Don't take insurance: It's a bad bet in the long run
