Chat Is Now Live
Chat Is Now Live
You can now message your opponents and friends on Boardoor. From quick exchanges during a match to one-on-one conversations with friends, you can stay connected beyond the game itself. We have also built in tools — reporting and blocking — so you can use chat with peace of mind.
In-Match Chat
While you are playing, you can talk to the other players in the same match right there at the table. From a simple "good luck" to a reaction to a great play, you can share the mood of the game together.
Messages arrive in real time, so conversations stay quick and natural.
You can control how chat appears from your settings. Under Settings → Chat, you can choose whether in-match chat shows messages from "Everyone" or only from "People you follow" — handy when you would rather keep exchanges with strangers to a minimum.
The In-Match Player List
The "Players" button in the in-match header opens the list of everyone at your table. From the list, you can follow, block, or report each player right there. Whether you want to follow someone who caught your eye or block someone you would rather not see, you can do it without leaving the game.
Direct Messages (DM)
When two people follow each other, they can send one-on-one direct messages. DMs are great for a relaxed post-game chat or arranging your next match.
DMs arrive in real time too. When a new message comes in, it shows up in your notifications and the bell in the header, so you do not have to keep a screen open to notice it. Only people you follow each other with can start a DM, so you will never get a message out of the blue from a stranger.
Built for Peace of Mind
To keep things pleasant, we have included moderation tools.
- Block: When you block a user, their messages no longer appear to you. You can toggle this from a profile page or from the in-match player list.
- Report: If you come across inappropriate behavior, you can report it by choosing a reason category. Reports can be filed from a profile or the in-match player list, and our team reviews and acts on them.
- Turn off notifications: Want to keep following someone but hear less about their new matches? You can turn off notifications for them from their profile — a gentler dial than blocking. You can review and re-enable anyone you have silenced under Settings → "Blocked & notification off".
- Display filter: As mentioned above, you can limit in-match chat to "People you follow" only.
Give It a Try
You can start chatting from "Messages" in the header or from a player's profile. Display and filter preferences can be changed anytime under the "Chat" section of your settings.
We will keep refining these features so everyone can play comfortably and have fun. We hope you enjoy it.
